Creative Stewardship Example from Cleveland
WEWS in Cleveland
reports of a church that distributed $100 bills to its members in exchange for a
promise that all who received funds would make the money grow and
donate the appreciated amount to charities in their community. The funds,
totaling more than $20,000, were given to both children and adults.
The money for the project was donated by wealthy congregation
members.
One seventh grader
used the $100 to make bead bracelets that were sold for over $1200. The
funds were later donated to a local hospital. Other ministries that have
benefited include a prison ministry and a battered women's
shelter.

This is a great
example of putting the Parable of the Talents from Matthew 25:14-30 into
action. Not only do the congregation members learn how to manage money but
many lives in the community were reached.
